Apple is making its much-anticipated move into GenAI. That raises many new questions. One, is will they be successful? Another is will theirs be trustworthy and unbiased? While Apple AAPL is one of the most successful companies, that doesn’t mean everything it touches succeeds.

Let’s take a closer look at Apple and Generative AI and what it will mean for them, and for you.

Apple has always developed new ideas by throwing them against the wall and seeing what sticks and what falls away. Sometimes they are first to market, like with Siri. However, Siri has not grown and expanded like the Google version has done.

Will Apple be successful with generative AI?

Artificial Intelligence is not new. In fact, it has been with us in different forms for many decades. However, generative AI is a new version. GenAI uses machine learning to evaluate existing content, then create new content. This includes images, audio, video, music, text and more.

Today, generative AI is used for a growing variety of tasks. This includes chatbots, improving customer care and more. Going forward it will also create content like movies, music and a growing variety of entertainment and content. We may even see actors who are not even alive any longer star in new movies.

This raises many questions with regards to ownership and licensing of content as well. This will keep the courts busy for many years as we move forward.

Should we trust Apple GenAI?

Another important question is, can Generative AI be trusted? There are so many issues that still need to be challenged and ironed out. This question depends on who created it. The problem is, AI takes what it starts with, then learns on its own. It continually changes over time. However, what it becomes all depends on the attitude and information it starts with.

As people, we are all different. Same with AI. With us, it depends on our history, family and background. If you gather a group of people, you will have many different answers to the same question.

Same with AI. Artificial intelligence may adapt and write its own software moving forward, but it all starts with the fact that different AI engines can come up with different answers to the same questions. It all depends on the lives and beliefs of the people who write the original program. In fact, this is the same problem we deal with in smartphones, online services, search engines and more.

We need a fair and objective model to start with. And different people create different models. It’s not a matter of accurate. It’s all accurate. It’s a matter of opinion and there are many different opinions.

As we move forward, we will have competing AI systems. The answers to the same questions may indeed be different depending on which system you ask. The important thing to remember is all this content, even though different, can still be accurate. It is all a matter of point of view.

Apple is more trustworthy than most companies

That is why it is important to understand the slant of the AI we choose to use. The Apple version of GenAI will have its own slant. That being said, if you choose a brand or product, you cannot choose the version of GenAI it uses. You are simply stuck with what they offer.

If we have a choice, we will more than likely choose the AI engine which agrees with us the way we choose a television news network we watch.

We should never simply trust companies and technologies going forward. Different versions start with different views of life. Often, there are conflicting opinions. We need to understand this going forward. We should never blindly trust any version of AI.
