David Kenney joins Project Equity as the manager of the Employee Ownership Catalyst Fund in partnership with Mission Driven Finance. In this role, he is responsible for the fund’s strategy, growing the fund, and deploying its capital in support of Project Equity’s employee ownership mission. David is an experienced financial activist, nonprofit leader and economic development professional who seeks to build solutions for a transition to a just economy. For 15 years, David built and led VertueLab, a nonprofit organization with a mission to unleash innovation and entrepreneurship to solve environmental challenges and catalyze shared economic prosperity. Focused on reversing climate change by supporting equitable climate solutions developed by innovators and entrepreneurs, VertueLab makes catalytic investments and provides support to early stage climate tech companies. He is an angel investor and investment fund LP with a focus on BIPOC and women business founders and fund managers. David has two adult children and lives with his partner, Mariam, in Portland, Oregon. He enjoys hiking/backpacking, flatwater kayaking, watching Portland Timbers and Thorns soccer, reading and traveling.
