Silicon Image (NASDAQ: SIMG), a leading provider of HD connectivity solutions, today announced the availability of its Trinity system design; a complete, ready-to-manufacture mobile accessory solution that adds 60GHz WirelessHD® connectivity to MHL®-compatible mobile devices.  Trinity integrates Silicon Image's UltraGig™ 6400 low-power mobile 60GHz WirelessHD transmitter to provide a cable-like wireless connection between smartphones or tablets and HD displays.  This turnkey design is fully compatible with any mobile device integrating an MHL transmitter and is optimized for displaying interactive HD video applications including gaming, productivity and entertainment on a large-screen display.

The Trinity accessory design connects directly to MHL-enabled smartphones and transmits high-quality, low-latency WirelessHD video.  Connections to displays and projectors are achieved via WirelessHD 1.1 receivers that are available from multiple ODMs worldwide.

 Key features of Trinity include:

•    WirelessHD video connectivity that supports Full HD video up to 1080p60 with near-zero latency (less than 5ms) for real-time content sharing between devices.

•    60GHz technology that is free from 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi interference.

•    Simple connectivity to WirelessHD 1.1 receivers and displays.

•    Plug and play connection to any MHL mobile device, with no hardware changes or additional software needed.

•    Lithium-ion battery with integrated charge management system to enable users to watch video or play games on large HD displays for up to 6 hours.

•    Ergonomic industrial designs optimized for market leading Android smartphones and tablets; can easily be adapted to other mobile device configurations.

"Our new Trinity design leverages Silicon Image's market leading UltraGig 6400 to add cable-like wireless connectivity to the over 325 million MHL-enabled mobile devices in the market," said Jim Chase, senior marketing director for wireless products at Silicon Image.  "Mobile device manufactures and accessory makers now have a cost-effective way to give consumers an immersive, high-definition gaming experience on any size screen, right from their mobile phones and tablets."
