The history of AR and VR spans longer than you think.

When you think of virtual reality, you probably think of fairly new technology. Not only has this iteration of the technology been around since the 1980s, but the technology that led up to it has been around even longer – since the 1830s at least when the stereoscope was invented. Through the creation of flight training simulators, the View Master, video games, and more, virtual and augmented reality have a much longer history than you think.
