Beth Ann Bovino, the Deputy Chief Economist at Standard & Poor’s notes markets continue to be swung by news from Washington. The data this week continued to indicate weakening sentiment indicators as people nervously wait to see some resolution on the government’s long-term debt bill before the economy goes over the fiscal cliff. That said, the data this week still points to an economy that is slowly healing, from both the financial crisis of 2008 and Hurricane Sandy.
