CPI declined 0.1% in October, but rose 3.5% year-over-year. Industrial Production rose by 0.7% in October with Capacity Utilization at 77.8%. The National Association of Home Builders Housing Market Index came in at 20 in November. The NAHB HMI had been below 20 since September 2007 just three months before the “Great Credit Crunch” began. The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded down to 11,957.06, which is below its 200-day simple moving average at 11,977. The Dow rebounded to an afternoon high at 12,109.03 then faded into the close. The NASDAQ traded down to 2658.33 then rebounded to 2688.86 testing its 200-day simple moving average at 2688. The NASDAQ faded below 2665 in the final hour of trading. Both the Dow and NASDAQ hit session lows in the final half hour of trading on news that US banks have exposures to the European debt problem.

Asian stocks slumped again on Wednesday with the Nikkei 225 down 0.92% to 8,463 and the Hang Seng plunging 2.00% to 18,961. European stocks opened higher but dipped into the red before the US open and then ended their sessions mixed. The FTSE 100 dipped just 0.15% to 5,509 with the DAX down 0.33% to 5,913 and the CAC 40 up 0.52% to 3,065. The yield on the US Treasury 10-Year note traded between 2.000 percent and 2.061 still trading around its 50-day simple moving average at 2.042. Gold traded down from $1784.8 the Troy ounce to $1753.9. Crude oil traded down to $98.39 per barrel then rebounded above the $100 mark to $102.89. The euro versus the dollar traded down to 1.3432 then rebounded 1.3555 staying below its 50-day simple moving average at 1.3686.
