Singular Research's Robert Maltbie on the Trump Effect

Robert Maltbie  |

In the latest installment of Robert Maltbie's Minute on the Market, the founder of Singular Research offers his thoughts on sell in May, the upcoming election, and what the firm's key market indicators are saying right now. Earnings growth is being driven by continued aggressive share buybacks from corporations but also the negatives in troubled sectors are beginning to come off the scorecard. With market sentiment not overly bullish, which is actually promising for the market, stocks could still have room to move higher.

Maltbie also talks about the "stealth bear market" environment in which the major indices refuse to fall through the 20% decline threshold, perhaps due to investors being driven into the equity market because of the Fed's low interest rate policies. Where else are people going to get a return these days?
