The exact legislation regarding medicinal cannabis in each state has been hazy from the start, add ongoing talk of change and varied interpretations and things can get confusing. General Cannabis, Inc. (CANA) a technology-based Internet marketing services company, today announced that WeedMaps Media, Inc. has acquired the Android smartphone application WeedLaws to help medical cannabis patients know their rights.

Both medicinal cannabis users and providers could benefit from the information regarding state laws, regulatory activity and industry updates nationwide.  The application is being described by General Cannabis as , “the most accurate and complete database of Marijuana laws in existence.” The company intends to further expand on it for market release at the start of next quarter.

The purchase of WeedLaws by General Cannabis, is in line with the company’s goals of expanding its presence within the technical sector of medicinal cannabis. Another objective of the company, offering correct and in-depth information regarding medicinal cannabis to patients and providers will also be fulfilled.

"Acquiring the WeedLaws app is in line with our ongoing efforts to provide the most accurate and pertinent information in the medical cannabis industry," said Doug Francis, President of General Cannabis. "We believe that WeedLaws reinforces our stance as the place to go for accurate information on medical marijuana and we are proud to welcome it to the WeedMaps family."

WeedMaps Media, in addition to WeedLaws runs the marijuana dispensary and doctor finder site WeedMaps.com, where it provides users with information and reviews of clinics based on their specification.  The associated mobile application for Android has been increasing in popularity since it’s release in September, affirming the companies views on the importance of mobility.
