Vivus reports 4Q loss

CAMPBELL, Calif. (AP) _ Vivus Inc. (VVUS) on Tuesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $10.1 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Campbell, California-based company said it had a loss of 10 cents.

The biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $11.9 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $30.5 million, or 29 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $65.4 million.

In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, the company's shares hit 53 cents. A year ago, they were trading at $1.11.
