Vancouver based Urban Communications, one of the country’s first telecom companies to deliver Gigabit Internet service to the home, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Convey as its Interim Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Convey is highly qualified for this position, having experience as CFO of public companies both in the United States and Canada, as well as having considerable telecom and high-tech market experience. Mr. Convey has previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Uniserve Communications Corp., a TSX-V telecom provider, and more recently as Interim CFO/COO of Mobetize Inc., an OTC-QB mobile payment technology company. Prior to Uniserve he successively served as Vice President of Finance for two hi-technology firms in the U.K., where he was responsible for the financial, legal and commercial aspects of the corporations, and he has further served as the Financial Controller for PA Consulting’s Venture Investment arm.
Mr. Convey has a wealth of telecom experience with Cable & Wireless and British Telecom as well as Uniserve, in a range of financial and commercial roles, as well as considerable knowledge of the high- tech and venture capital sectors. A U.K. qualified Chartered Management Accountant, he is well versed in providing the financial and operational frameworks necessary to execute on strategic goals. Mr. Convey also holds a B.A. in Japanese and French from the University of Durham.

Urban Communications owns and operates a 200 km. fibre optic network throughout the greater Vancouver and Victoria areas. The company is about to launch Urbanfibre with service of 1000 Mbps to residential and commercial buildings along its fibre optic core.
