Tokyo stocks fall in morning on concern over global growth outlook

Japan Economic Newswire |

Tokyo stocks fell Thursday morning as investors grew risk-averse on concern over the global economic outlook following the release of weaker-than-expected economic data in the United States.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 132.95 points, or 0.63 percent, from Wednesday to 21,055.61. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 9.46 points, or 0.61 percent, to 1,534.69.

Decliners were led by marine transportation, oil and coal product and security house issues.
