It does not matter whether you are an investing novice or whether you like to think yourself as a seasoned veteran of the markets, you can always learn from the wisdom of others. Successful investment professionals are often wiling to share their expertise; it would be foolish not to take advantage of this.

The secret to successful investing is to build on successes and learn from failures, by evolving as you go. Reading the advice of experts could help you to improve upon your current strategies, or create new, more efficient, ones. This is not to say that you should follow a financial leader without question; you should use their advice to determine your own investment path. Three of the biggest names in investment expertise that you can learn from are Benjamin Graham, Ric Edelman and Warren Buffet.

Benjamin Graham

Benjamin Graham is widely regarded as the “father of value investing”. The Graham formula has become one of the best known pieces of investment advice in the world. It concentrates on long term investment growth as the result of establishing the intrinsic value of stock and buying at a value price with an established margin of safety.

Given that many analysts are predicting a return to the popularity of value investment strategies in 2019, it seems that Graham’s famous book, “The Intelligent Investor”, is a must-read for novice and established investors alike. After all, the advice contained in its pages has been a source of inspiration for many successful investors since it was first published in 1949.

Ric Edelman

Ric Edelman has been ranked the number one financial advisor in the US by Baron’s in four separate years; 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2018. As well as being chairman and co-founder of his own successful company, Edelman Financial Services, he is also well-known for hosting a weekly radio talk show based around financial advice.

As if this was not enough to keep him busy, Edelman shares his valuable insights in the books that he writes, including “The Truth about Money” in which he discusses personal finance and investment principles.

Warren Buffet

As of November 2, 2018, Warren Buffet was the third wealthiest person in the world, with a net worth of US$84.4 billion. Buffet is a shrewd investor and has built his company, Berkshire Hathaway, to be one of the most successful in the world.

Buffet is also an eloquent speaker when it comes to giving investment advice. Although he has never written a book himself, he does write yearly letters his company’s shareholders. It’s these letters which form the basis of the book, “The Essays of Warren Buffett: Lessons For Corporate America.” The book was edited by Lawrence Cunningham, in order to aid the flow, but the words all belong to Buffet. You can read his letters in chronological order; a fascinating insight into the financial genius of the man.

Never underestimate how much you can learn from investing and finance experts, like the three mentioned in this article. No matter how much investing experience you have, there is always more valuable knowledge and insight that you can acquire.
