Something as innocuous-seeming as an internet connected refrigerator can take over your favorite website and shut it down. The internet of things gives users the ability to connect all manner of normal household appliances to the internet so they can see what's in their fridge before they head to the grocery store after work or so they can display their family calendar at a central point in the kitchen.
