Starting Young - Forex for Traders Under 25

Zahir Shah  |

Forex trading is probably one of the simpler forms of finance market trading. Foreign exchange trading is just what its name indicates: the market is where different currencies are sold and/or bought to generate profit. Traders make money by buying a currency and selling it when the prices have increased, or by selling a currency and buying it back when the prices have decreased. It is like a bigger, more profitable version of exchanging currency while abroad.

Forex trading is also quite readily available for most traders. The market can be accessed online, so you can do it wherever you are. The fact that it’s open five-and-a-half days a week also makes it easy to access. “The concepts are pretty simple to grasp and once you get the hang of it, getting in on the action somehow seems like a game,” said a young trader from “It is probably why young people are attracted to it and its prospects.”

The Youngest Players in the Foreign Exchange Market

Buena Patria, a teenager from Bali, Indonesia, stumbled upon foreign exchange trading back in 2011…when he was only 14 years-old. It began as a simple interest in the world of finance, and bloomed into a passion for the market. He now maintains a website in which he gives insights about foreign exchange trading, as well as other subjects that he’s passionate about. He is still in high school, but plans on studying in the UK for college and pursuing an economic or finance degree.

He is also one of the original members of a leading Forex Portal, wherein young investors and traders aim to promote financial knowledge for the youth. The group also aids in bridging investment and trading opportunities.

Milan Cutkovic, a proprietary trader based in Zürich, Switzerland, is one of the members of said Portal. He also started in the field of trading at the young age of 14. Like Buena, he actively trades in the foreign exchange market, with focus on short-term trading opportunities. He maintains his own website, where he publishes his insights in forex trading, as well. Cutkovic writes on his views and some of his experiences as a trader. Having studied Business Economics, his formal training plus his many experiences in trading has made him a reliable voice in the market.

Josh Olfert is another young trader. This multi-achieving guy from Winnipeg, Canada is also an entrepreneur and investor. He started in the financial world at 15. Along with Forex, Olfert trades commodities and stocks.

A Market that’s Open to All

It’s exciting to know that young people can take interest in the financial markets. These men prove that people can wade in the forex trading waters at a young age and become successful. Their passion for the market also suggests the potential of this financial market. In the future, they still might be the top players of the forex field…and you can join the game, too.
