Revamped MeetMe+ Social Gathering Place for the Mobile Generation

According to the Pew Research Center, almost two-thirds of Americans own a smartphone, with 19% of users relying on mobile internet access for staying connected to the world around them. It’s fair to say that the majority of us are highly dependent, if not practically conjoined to, on our iPhones and Androids. With an on-the-go modern society, smartphones connects one to work, retailer's, information services, and to new people with similar interests through social media.

Social Media has been one of the most innovative and influential technologies of the tech age. For consumers and businesses alike, social media outlets have become a relied upon source for communication and news sharing. Moreover, these platforms are as serving as an outlet for strangers with like interest to meet and connect. MeetMe (MEET), a public market leader for social discovery, is becoming the go-to social gathering place for the mobile generation.

MeetMe is a location-based chat app mobile that makes it easy to discover new people on mobile devices. Nearing 4 million users, the company has also been recognized a leader in mobile monetization with a diverse revenue model comprising advertising, native advertising, virtual currency, and subscription. Aiming to bring attention to its revamped MeetMe+ service, the company recently launched a seven-day free trial offer. The free trial enables first-time MeetMe+ users to enjoy its premium benefits free for one week, after which they may choose to continue at the normal subscription rates or return to a standard free membership.

“We’re excited for MeetMe members to experience the benefits of MeetMe+ risk-free, and we believe the free trial has the potential to further the momentum and growth we are already seeing on subscription revenue since the product revamp,” said Geoff Cook, CEO of MeetMe.

The Pennsylvania-based company has made a number of positive strides in recent months, including:

  • On December 28, for the first time in MeetMe’s history, more than 30 million chats were sent on a single day, setting a new daily record for the number of user-to-user chats.
  • Setting a new mobile monthly active user record of 4,039,950 in November, representing a 27% increase in MAU year-over-year.
  • Being named to Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500™, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech companies in North America.
  • 73% growth in quarterly mobile revenue to $11.6 million in Q3 ‘15.

The company will announce financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year on February 29.

According to Marketing Land, four of the six top social networks, including Facebook, are chat apps. When it comes to social media on mobile devices, chat is king. With a revamped subscription platform and promising revenue numbers, MeetMe is positioned to capture the mobile tech throne.
