I had a call with CEO Michael Tew of Cannasys (MJTK). and he was rousing his daughters from an afternoon nap in between a hectic day of cannabis meetings. In between breaths, he observed what many CEO's before him have, that the job was much bigger than he ever thought it would be - that of running a public company in such a rapidly growing industry.


Tew is not new to the impact nuance branding can have on a product. He knows from experience that commoditization occurs in any product evolution, and "it all starts at the wholesale level." He also knows that the market is ready for disruption, as retail sales in cannabis is the current equivalent of having a bunch of disparate kiosks dotting a landscape that is grossing $10B annually in domestic sales. Experts project this number will be 10 fold in 2 years, and the story here is that this is not even about selling weed. This is about your budtender, through MJTK’s underlying technologies, up-selling you premium brands and accessories, so you can take advantage of not just branded cannabis products - I'm talking hats,t-shirts, and hoodies.
