Naked and Happy (NAKD) with D-Wade

I saw a clean video of CEO Carole Hochman from Naked Brand Group ($NAKD) as the conference circuit comes down the stretch in Q4 15. Nice to see an articulate CEO with a brand message in small cap. I like the fact that they did everything right while working with investors, including reverse splitting the stock so that it is more attractive to retail, and getting the execution plan in order. In many cases, this is a monumental task that C-Level realizes halfway into the game they do not have the skill set for. It looks like Naked has thought much of this through, though, and they have good partners, to boot.

 Share price often does not reflect the progress a company makes in small and micro-cap, so you need to look beyond price, and instead look to how sales are tracking, and how firm the boots are on the ground. I can tell you this: I love the product, particularly the silver boxer briefs! Go check out the website…I love the Dwyane Wade stuff, but that's just me. I also got my girl some sleepwear, and learned what in the heck a chemise is...I now love the idea of a chemise!

Naked Does Well with Female Leadership

I champion women on Wall Street, and so should you. Women make great leaders, and I think you will start to see more C-Level leadership as we exit the election cycle, with Hillary and Carly Fiorina, but small cap company leadership needs more decisive thinkers like Carole.

The company landed Dwyane Wade as a spokesman, which is quite a coup for a small company. The company’s efforts to accelerate sales and distribution of its men's collection, as well as this recently announced signature collection which Naked expects to launch in 2016, should bolster revenues.

Naked Brands has been busy of late – attending the CurveNY show at the Javits Center in New York City on August 2-4. "From the day I joined Naked last year, expanding our brand into the women's intimates market has been a key objective," said Carole Hochman, the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Creative Officer and Chairwoman of Naked. "Now is a pivotal moment in fashion, when comfort and performance have become as important as aesthetic in creating apparel that helps women and men thrive in their daily lives. Naked's mission is to set a new standard for fit, feel and function for innerwear and beyond."

On the funding side of the ledger, Naked Brand received gross proceeds of approximately $2.34 million back in August in connection with the company's offer to amend and exercise warrants. The company plans to use the net proceeds from the offering to fund ongoing operations, including their efforts to accelerate sales and distribution of their men's collection, to launch and establish sales and distribution of its women's collection. They also hope to develop additional product lines, including their recently announced Dwyane Wade signature collection.

All in all, Naked Brand is one to watch, no matter what you’re wearing...
