MassRoots, Inc. (OTCQB:MSRT), a company often referred to as Facebook (FB) for cannabis users, announced today the recruitment of Jeremiah Marquis as MassRoots’ VP of Sales and Business Development. Marquis, who was one of the first 20 employees at WeddingWire, scaled thecompany to over $100 million in revenue and 750 employees over the past seven years.

"The potential and opportunity in this space is beyond compare,” saidMarquis. “This is such an exciting time to be involved in the cannabis industry and I believe MassRoots offers one of the most impressive technology platforms in the space. I'm thrilled for the opportunity to work with and continue to develop the great team behind this business."

MassRoots is one of the largest and most active technology platforms for cannabis consumers, businesses and activists with over 725,000 users. Through their mobile applications and web portal, people use MassRoots to share their cannabis content, stay connected with the latest legalization news and follow their favorite dispensaries.

“When we first started talking with Jeremiah last October, what immediately stood out was how applicable his experience was to MassRoots,” said Isaac Dietrich, CEO of MassRoots. “WeddingWire has tens of thousands of advertisers worldwide, ranging from local florists to national hotel chains – very similar to how MassRoots has both local dispensaries and national cannabis brands looking to reach our audience.”

With a growing user base, the company is capturing the attention of major players in the business world, both inside and outside the cannabis industry. MassRoots is affiliated with leading organizations in the cannabis industry, including the ArcView Group and National Cannabis Industry Association. Moreover, the company was invited to meet Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, on Necker Island in early February as part of the Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC). Other recent operational milestones include:

  • Significantly growing web traffic, month over month.
  • MassRoots crossing 750,000 users.
  • Being featured in the History Channel documentary, “The Marijuana Revolution.” The episode was also featured at this year’s CES.
  • Generating 35 million app screen views in 30 days.

Furthermore, the company has also been covered by major media outlets, including Fox Business, CNBC, Fortune, MarketWatch, Cannabist, and the New York Times.

ArcView Market Research projects the cannabis industry could grow from $3.3 billion in 2015 to $10.2 billion in 2018. By strengthening their leadership, MassRoots is uniquely positioned to not only play a key role in helping legalization initiatives passed by utilizing their social channels to mobilize voters; they are positioned to claim their slice of the, projected, multi-billion dollar cannabis industry.

“We could not be more excited to welcome a leader of Mr. Marquis’ caliber to our team,” said Dietrich, “and use his experience to fully develop MassRoots’ sales team and processes as we continue to scale our revenue streams.”
