Microsoft Corporation has hired Manik Gupta, the former chief product officer at Uber Technologies, as part of a renewed effort to boost its consumer app business.

On Tuesday, the software giant announced that Gupta will serve as its new corporate vice president for Teams Consumer, Skype and GroupMe, reporting directly to Jeff Teper, corporate vice president of Microsoft 365 Collaboration.

Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (OTC: NWARF) named Geir Karlsen as its new chief executive officer Monday, a day after the company’s board decided to immediately terminate the contract with former head Jacob Schram.

In a statement, Norwegian Air’s board chair Svein Harald Øygard said Karlen – the company’s chief financial officer – “has the competencies, focus, trust and dedication that makes him the best choice” to lead the Oslo-based airline.

Italian luxury sports carmaker Ferrari N.V. has appointed Benedetto Vigna, a longtime executive at Europe’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, as its new chief executive officer.

Vigna, 52, will start at Ferrari on September 1, after more than 25 years at STMicroelectronics, where he currently runs the company’s analog, micro-electromechanical systems and sensors group.

Apollo Global Management Inc said on Thursday co-founder Josh Harris has decided to step down from his day-to-day role as managing director on completion of the private-equity giant's deal with Athene Holding Ltd.

Harris will "return to his roots" as an investor and entrepreneur, Apollo said, adding that he will remain on the company's board and its executive committee.

JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM) has named Marianne Lake and Jennifer Piepszak to co-head the company’s massive consumer banking business after its long-time manager, Gordon Smith, announced his retirement.

In a press release Tuesday, JPMorgan said Lake, the head of the bank's consumer lending business and chief financial officer for several years until recently, and current chief financial officer Piepszak will become co-chief executive officers of the consumer finance division, effective immediately.

Reuters News has named one of its top editors, Alessandra Galloni, as its next editor-in-chief, the first woman to lead the globe-spanning news agency in its 170-year history.

A native of Rome, Galloni, 47, will replace Stephen J. Adler, who is retiring this month after leading the newsroom for the past decade. Under his leadership, Reuters has received hundreds of journalism awards, including seven Pulitzer Prizes, the industry’s highest honor.

GameStop Corp plans to elect activist investor Ryan Cohen as its board chairman, the company announced Thursday.

After investing in GameStop last year, Cohen, the billionaire co-founder and former chief executive officer of online pet product seller Chewy Inc, joined the video game retailer’s board in January and has been pushing for a shift in the company’s business model to one based on e-commerce.
