Do you know any serial entrepreneurs? Sure you do. It's the guy at the club who seems to have a new business card every time you see him. It's your buddy who can't make the football party at your place because he's working on a Sunday. Hmm, it all sounds familiar to me, too.

My buddy was visiting from out of town and, of course, the topic turned to what we were both working on. I started to tell him about a couple of things I had been working on and he said, “Hold on a minute, I'll be right back.” He went to his suitcase and pulled out a business card box, the cardboard type your cards come in from the printer.

We are just a few days from the end the third quarter as investors gear up for the next wave of earning's reports. Nothing has been normal about 2020 so don't expect October to be any different. The only image that comes to mind is Bizarro World the fictitious home planet of Bizarro Superman where bad is good, up is down and the world is square.

In 2020 that mindset translates into lower earnings = higher stock prices, deficits are better than surpluses and mountains of debt drive long ...

Wireless networks both in the US marketplace and around the globe are spending billions of dollars every year, year after year to bring 5G to the marketplace. The winners will be those who innovate better. 5G has only just begun and will get better and faster as time passes. We will continue on this growth path for years to come. Let’s take a look at a few companies that are leading today.

5G is more than just the next generation of the wireless industry. Going forward, wireless carriers need to be innovative in order to win as the marketplace continues to expand with new technologies and new competitors. Plus, non-wireless companies will enter the world of 5G.

Finally, an acquisition from Verizon that makes sense. Verizon is a powerful wireless provider in the United States. However, they do not have a solid position in the rapidly growing reseller or prepaid MVNO space. Acquiring Tracfone will help them become a player in this important and growing space.

This move has Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg written all over it. This is one of the first important things he has done for the company since becoming CEO. In fact, this is one of the most important things Verizon has done in the last several years.

Before the coronavirus outbreak, I doubted telehealth had much potential. I remember sitting outside a café with our publisher and telling him it was a bust.

Trust a quack internet doctor? No way folks will go for it. But I’ve done a total 180. Right now, millions of Americans are firing up their laptops and “visiting” doctors virtually. In fact, more than 55 million folks now pay for a telehealth subscription.

And industry pioneers Teladoc (TDOC) and Livongo (LV...

How often do you receive spam calls? Do you worry that your smart devices and cell phones are listening to your conversations? Is your inbox inundated with ads? Are you concerned about the use of facial recognition technology and geolocation targeting?

While many agree that our personal data shouldn’t be used to track our activities or sold to advertisers without our knowledge, people feel data privacy is too scary to think about, too complex or just too overwhelming that there’s no...

I've been a pilot for most of my adult life and I can tell you with some degree of certainty that situational awareness — or recognizing your positioning and the threats around you — is key not just to flying aircraft but almost anything that requires swift reaction times to rapidly changing data.

Even a veteran pilot without sufficient instrument training can find themselves completely upside down within seconds when they have lost sight of visual inputs like the horizon or ground.

After 8 m...

AT&T Mobility and Verizon Wireless have won two important wireless tests. Global Wireless Solutions, or GWS, said AT&T had the “Best Network” among AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. And both Verizon and AT&T have virtually tied the RootMetrics study.

This was the third annual national GWS test, and AT&T has won all three years. Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint have shown improvements as well. So, even though AT&T was first, these results were good for the entir...

It's tough to raise money from your friends and family to finance your startup. You've got visions of greatness and that look of money in your eyes. Your sales pitch is full of excitement and dreams. Convincing your friends and family, however, only some of whom may be able to afford or envision your dream, is a scary proposition. Then comes the caveat to them – I have an idea but no product yet!

After you've gone that first and most logical fundraising route, you start going after ...

If you’re looking to realize your growth potential in the midst of market changes and challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, recruiting “A” players must be a top priority.

About half of executive hires fail within 18 months, according to the Corporate Leadership Council. These failures can cost anywhere from 2.5 to 27 times that executive’s salary, per RHR International's calculations. That's a cost many companies can't afford right now, and I imagine the number...
