The legalization of marijuana for recreational use in Colorado and Washington represented a major sea change for American public policy, one that appears to be headed for a national scale. And as that debate intensifies, one element that's getting explored is how legalization might affect the American economy. Like it or not, Washington and Colorado have just volunteered to act as canaries in the coal mine for the rest of the country.
