Heliospectra AB (OTCQB: HLSPY), a provider of LED grow lights for commercial greenhouses, indoor grow facilities and research applications, announced today that the company will be an exhibitor at The Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture (GFIA) in Abu Dhabi on February 16-17. The company will be exhibiting the new Heliospectra LightBar, as well as presenting at the innovation stage on Tuesday, February 16.
Believing that cross-sector collaboration can bring about a food-secure future, The Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture exists to bring together public decision-makers, private sector champions and civil society leaders who develop and catalyze innovations for sustainable agriculture.
Heliospectra specializes in intelligent lighting technology for plant research and greenhouse cultivation. The company’s lighting system provides an effective and durable technology for cultivating greenhouse and indoor plants by combining several different groups of versatile light emitting diodes (LEDs) with optics, remote sensing techniques, and a robust heat dissipation solution. The technology not only reduces energy consumption by up to 50%, but also helps stimulate growth characteristics and improve plant quality. Other benefits include reduced light pollution, lower mercury use due to the avoidance of traditional HID/HPS bulbs, and less HVAC investment and monthly expense requirements.
"With Heliospectra just receiving a grant of SEK 500,000 for the development of energy-efficient and water-conserving plant cultivations in the Middle East, said Staffan Hillberg, CEO of Heliospectra, “this is a natural venue for us, and a great place to introduce the Heliospectra LightBar."
The grant, awarded by the Swedish Energy Agency, allows Heliospectra to analyze and improve the possibilities for engaging in energy-efficient, water-conserving growing in the Middle East until August 31, 2016. Furthermore, the company has announced a number of recent operational milestones, including:
- Presenting at the Viridian Cannabis Investor Symposium in New York City.
- Being awarded a research grant from Vinnova, the Swedish innovation agency, for an innovation project entitled "LED Lighting to Enhance the Quality of Plants."
- Receiving an order valued at just over $229,000 from a large European greenhouse grower.
With their upcoming exhibition and positively reviewed LightBar technology, Heliospectra aims to not only be a sought after provider of LED technology; but, also aims to be a leader in the agricultural innovations market.
