GTX Corp’s (GTXO) SmartSoles Finalist for CTIA's Hot for the Holidays Awards

When people hear internet of things (IoT) or wearable tech, they tend to think nifty gadgets. Things like the Apple (AAPL) Watch, a shiny tech toy to make one’s life more connected. Something marvelous, but ultimately somewhat frivolous on some level. After all, being able to check texts on your wristwatch is hardly a necessity.

However, there are also entries into the wearable tech field that represent a response to a real and earnest need on the part of some consumers. Devices that are measurably improving lives in ways that go far beyond convenience or style. Devices like SmartSoles from GTX Corp (GTXO) . These GPS devices can be placed in the shoes of family members with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism and TBI who may be prone to wandering, allowing their loved ones to locate them immediately. It may sound simple, but this device can save a lengthy and inefficient search conduct by police or other authorities, not to mention keep people safer and limit the stress caused for anyone with a missing family member.

The way this product is responding to a huge need for a wide section of the population is probably part of why SmartSoles are one of five finalists for the Wireless Association’s (CTIA) Hot for the Holidays Awards in the Wearables, Health, Fitness & Wellness category.

CTIA Recognizes SmartSoles

The Hot for the Holidays Awards are meant to highlight those consumer-facing mobile devices that are among the hottest and could represent the best gifts for the upcoming holiday season. In SmartSoles, they appear to have recognized a real winner.

“CTIA awards recognize some of the best mobile products and services that leverage shape and transform our competitive and rapidly evolving mobile industry,” said CTIA Vice President and Show Director Robert Mesirow. “These awards are perfectly timed for holiday buying and New Years business planning, and CTIA Super Mobility 2015 attendees will have the opportunity to see and experience these innovations first hand.”

The selection for GTX Corp’s flagship product was a result of dozens of analysts, reporters, and industry experts weighing in on hundreds of different products. The winner will be announced on September 10. There’s also a “Crowd Favorite” award that the public can vote on, with online balloting already in process and continuing through the tenth.

Being a finalist in the 2015 CTIA Hot for the Holidays Awards and being recognized by a panel of industry experts, which judge hundreds of submissions is quite an honor,” said GTX Corp CEO Patrick Bertagna. “And to be identified and selected as being among one of the best in the industry with tech giants such as – Google (GOOG) , Microsoft (MSFT) , Samsung (SSNLF) , and AT&T (T) , is extremely rewarding and a true testament to the passion and commitment of the GTX product development team.”

GTX Corp Having a Good Month

The recognition for excellence by the CTIA comes on the heels of a big Q2 earnings report that appears to show rapid adoption of SmartSoles is already under way and could pick up speed. The company reported major growth in revenue and subscribers a mere seven months after the initial launch of the product.

And news of being a nominee for this award could only help continue to boost the profile of the product. With the aging population of baby boomers, products that help manage the lifestyles of loved ones with cognitive disorders are addressing a growing market need that doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. GTX Corp could be well situated to help patients with these disorders live happier, safer lives while helping their families have the security of mind that comes with being able to locate them.
