All three indexes ended slightly higher on Wednesday on the same low volume that has been consistent for the last nine trading days. Investors are awaiting new earnings info before making major commitments. The broader market index exceeded the highly monitored 1,333 level, which is the technical point before 1,344 or the high in June 2008.

The Dow Jones closed up 32.85 points or 0.27% today while the S&P 500 climbed 2.91 or 0.22%. The Nasdaq was also higher, tacking on 8.63 points or 0.31%. Leading the gains on Wednesday were tech stocks and financials.

Opnet Inc (NASDAQ:OPXT) was up 14.16% today, with a number of other tech companies including Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ:FNSR), an optical subsystem provider was also up today up 8.96%. and Cypress Semi-conductors, up 7.76%. New Oriental Education and Tech Group Inc (NYSE: EDU), a provider of private education in China also climbed significantly today, up 9.76%

Losers for the day included Sykworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: SWKS) VirnetX Holding Corporation (AMEX: VHC) and Northern Oil & Gas Inc. (AMEX:NOG)
