CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Enerplus Corp. (ERF) on Friday reported second-quarter net income of $9.6 million.

On a per-share basis, the Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had profit of 4 cents.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 24 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas company posted revenue of $183.2 million in the period.

Enerplus shares have climbed 30 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 48 percent in the last 12 months.
