The importance of being green rises with each day as population growth increases and fossil fuels decrease. Creating products that boost efficiency while minimizing environmental damage is a top global priority, but as the failure of broad implementation indicates, obstacles persist for green tech. Alternative solutions, like solar and wind energy showed considerable promise after their initial introduction, but the high price of execution has been a massive obstacle. The fact remains that the deterioration of the ice caps is a second fiddle to the faltering global economies and green tech options that manage to save the earth and save cash are few and far between.

This explains why during the same decade long period that green tech has become a priority, carbon emissions have experienced a steep increase. Former Vice President Al Gore and the IPCC have been laboring to raise awareness of environmental issues and the potential impact of carbon dioxide since 2002, but that has not prevented emissions from increasing by a massive 28.5 percent.

With nations slashing budgets and debt threatening the future of many countries, the idea of switching over to a costly green technology can seem daunting or even impossible in spite of the obvious dangers of inaction. Perhaps the only way to encourage broader adaption is by developing a technology that is both energy and cost-efficient.

One area of business has succeeded in doing this effectively is automotives. While pricier than some can afford, cars like the Prius have been well-received as major gas cutting and higher efficiency are able to make car payments more manageable.  The Prius has been followed by handful of imitators looking to attract the same audience, but their options have failed to catch on as aggressively as a consequence of a higher price tag.
