Conn's beats Street 3Q forecasts

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) _ Conn's Inc. (CONN) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $1.6 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the The Woodlands, Texas-based company said it had net income of 5 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 18 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 4 cents per share.

The retailer posted revenue of $373.2 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $362.2 million.

Conn's shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
