Chemed posts 4Q profit

CINCINNATI (AP) _ Chemed Corp. (CHE) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $54.6 million.

The Cincinnati-based company said it had net income of $3.25 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $2.32 per share.

The operator of the Roto-Rooter plumbing service and Vitas Healthcare hospices posted revenue of $428.4 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $98.2 million, or $5.86 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.67 billion.

Chemed shares have increased nearly 5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $254.72, an increase of 49 percent in the last 12 months.
