Ameris Bancorp posts 1Q profit

MOULTRIE, Ga. (AP) _ Ameris Bancorp (ABCB) on Friday reported first-quarter profit of $21.2 million.

The bank, based in Moultrie, Georgia, said it had earnings of 59 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 60 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 59 cents per share.



The bank posted revenue of $92.8 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $86.3 million.

Ameris Bancorp shares have risen nearly 5 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 48 percent in the last 12 months.
