OAKVILLE, Ontario (AP) _ Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (AQN) on Thursday reported second-quarter earnings of $65.5 million.

The Oakville, Ontario-based company said it had profit of 14 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 11 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 9 cents per share.

The utility operator posted revenue of $366.2 million in the period.

Algonquin Power & Utilities shares have fallen slightly more than 8 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined nearly 2 percent in the last 12 months.
