FTI Counseling says it will eliminate 115 jobs

The Associated Press

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Business advisory firm FTI Counseling Inc. said Friday it will eliminate 115 jobs, or about 3 percent of its staff positions.

FTI said it is making the job cuts in response to business demands and global economic trends. FTI also said it is consolidating some offices to reduce its real estate costs. The company said it notified employees about the job cuts on June 29, and said the terminations, office consolidations and other recent moves will save it about $14 million over the rest of the year. FTI currently has about 3,800 employees.

The company expects to take a $28 million pretax charge in the second quarter. FTI expects additional charges in the third quarter related to further real estate consolidations.

Shares of FTI Consulting fell 46 cents to close at $29.13.
