Swarovski Opens Applications for its 2013 Sponsorship Programme

Swarovski has announced that applications are now open for its unique annual sponsorship programme.

The world-famous crystal brand, known for its sparkling accessories as available at specialist jewellery website the Jewel Hut, has commenced the Spring/Summer 2013 Swarovski Collective Sponsorship Programme.

Every year, Swarovski opens the grant application to established and promising up-and-coming designers, from all four international Fashion Weeks.

To be considered for the grant, Swarovski asks the applicants to demonstrate how they will utilise Swarovski Elements in their future collections; the lucky candidates who are chosen will be supplied with the crystals and materials to help make their designs become a reality.

The programme has been running since 1999, following a collaboration between Alexander McQueen, Isabella Blow and creative director Nadja Swarovski.

There have been many prolific Swarovski Collective Designers in the past that created innovative designs with Swarovski jewellery crystals, including Philip Treacy, Christopher Kane, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rodarte and Givenchy.

Last years chosen designers included Giles, Erdem and Craig Lawrence, who all incorporated the stunning crystals into their Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Craig Lawrence and Viktor and Rolfs designs have featured in a spectacular shoot in the latest issue of German Vogue, shot by legendary photographer Lado Alexi.

The garments all incorporate stunning Swarovski crystals, complimented by Swarovski jewellery made up of the brands dazzling crystal Elements. The sharp silhouettes and beautifully cut pieces are accentuated by the sparkling Swarovski trims, making them really stand out as unique and unusual designs.

Swarovski jewellery is famed the world over for its precisely-cut crystal. It aims to support the arts, and currently offers a student scholarship to encourage emerging fashion and jewellery designers at St Martins College. It has also lent its crystals to artists Cao | Perrot, for use in their dazzling art installations.
