Wincor Nixdorf enables retailers to implement 'Always Open' checkout while expanding its innovative and fully ADA II compliant automated checkout portfolio
M2 CommunicationsENP Newswire - 27 December 2012
Release date- 21122012 - More and more, retailers are looking to adapt to the growing consumer requirement for an individualized self-service checkout experience.
To partner with retailers and fulfill this need, Wincor Nixdorf continues to leverage its extensive global collaboration with retailers and expand its fully ADA II compliant portfolio of flexible and integrated automated checkout solutions. Presenting an 'Always Open' checkout lane, Wincor Nixdorf's newest multi-functional system, BEETLE /iSCAN EASY Hybrid, is set for presentation at the upcoming National Retail Federation Annual Convention being held in mid-January in New York City.
Retailers are continuously striving to optimize customer throughput while reducing front-end labor costs. Wincor Nixdorf's latest automated checkout solution, BEETLE /iSCAN EASY Hybrid, helps retailers accomplish this goal by offering complete checkout flexibility in an all-in-one automated solution. During peak times, retailers can maximize throughput with an attendant operating the lane in traditional mode, then instantly convert the lane to self-checkout mode once lines have shortened.
If a customer requests assistance while the lane is in self-checkout mode, an attendant can easily take control of the transaction with a single click. Additionally, because the 100% ADA II compliant BEETLE /iSCAN EASY Hybrid is so easy to use, it only takes one employee to monitor and manage several lanes simultaneously. This quick and easy convertibility combined with ease of use produces an 'Always Open' lane concept for retailers with optimized front-end labor.
Complementing the BEETLE /iSCAN EASY Hybrid, Wincor Nixdorf's innovation leading portfolio also includes the Tower Line 150 and Tower Line 50. The modular full-function Tower Line 150 incorporates CINEO cash recycling components enabling a retailer to implement an in-store closed cash cycle. On the other hand, the Tower Line 50 cashless payment solution, tailored to suit small format and convenience stores, offers quality design, a small footprint and several unique building block configurations - including up to four checkout stations in just only 10 square feet. Alongside the BEETLE /iSCAN EASY Hybrid, these two solutions are also fully ADA II compliant and will be presented at the 2013 NRF EXPO.
The heart of all Wincor Nixdorf Automated Checkout solutions is the TPiSCAN software platform - the world's most widely used self-checkout framework - which controls all self-checkout processes. Wincor Nixdorf's multi-vendor, open architecture TPiSCAN quickly and easily integrates with existing POS applications and currently supports more than 50 different POS applications. As a result, retailers can integrate TPiSCAN on multiple hardware platforms and with any POS software solution, providing long-term investment protections.
The next generation of scanning technology with improved barcode recognition is now available for the new 360 Scan Portal, a fully automated POS solution with a 360-degree scanner system. It enables a stable scan rate of 98 percent, a step closer to Wincor Nixdorf's goal of 99.5 percent, which is now reached in some cases. Additionally, integration of an image reader enables object recognition and can notify service staff when a product is not properly scanning or has a damaged barcode. In such case, an employee then manually enters an item, guaranteeing that all sales items are included on the receipt. Customers also have a flexible interface for smart control of the bagging area. Electronic control of the free bagging area happens at the touch of a button, using TPiSCAN's graphical user interface (GUI). Professional use of the still young 360-degree scanner technology is increasingly becoming a reality.
Wincor Nixdorf is continuously evolving its portfolio of automated checkout solutions and addressing growing market requirements with innovative solutions for now and the future.
