DQG AGM elects new Board including three women members [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]

Dubai, 12 Dec. 2012 /WAM/: The Dubai Quality Group /DQG/ on Tuesday held its Annual General Meeting /AGM/ and elected new Chairman and Board members.

Dr. Yousef Ebrahim Al-Akraf, Executive Vice President Business Support, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority /DEWA/, received majority votes from the DQG members and won the title as Board Chairman for a three-year term, 2013-2015. He will assume his office in January 2013.

As per the new constitution of the Group, all Board Members exercise their duties for three years after which managers and active members of the Group elect a new Board.

The voting results have been announced at the end of the AGM, which highlighted previous years' achievements, overview of the annual financial report, discussion of upcoming initiatives and different ideas of DQG's agenda.

The new Board of Directors includes: Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Muaini /Dubai Police/ Vice-Chairman, Mr. Sunil Bahri /Kaizensox Consulting FZE/ Secretary General, and Mr. Prashant Nasery /The Kanoo Group/ Finance Director.

Three women were elected as Board Members. They are: Ms. Fatma Al-Mheiri /Community Development Authority/, Ms. Sevil Ermin /The Nielsen Company/, and Ms. Seza Vaziri /Xerox Emirates/.

The outgoing chairman, Mr. Saleh Janeeh welcomed the newly-elected Board Chairman and members. In his speech on the occasion he said, "Being a part of DQG has been one of the most important experience of my life where my work, achievements, aspirations and development completed with a spirit of quality and excellence. During all these years, our joint efforts made the Group touch unbelievable peaks. This was possible only with a wonderful team spirit. We knew that ambitions were still growing, so were the challenges".

Dr. Yousef Al-Akraf expressed contentment over the transparent election of the new Board of Directors in which three women members were also elected in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The election of women members is meant to support, strengthen and encourage the professional presence of women in various entrepreneurial positions, enabling them to serve the principle of accessing comprehensive development and general renaissance that boost the UAE presence in all fields.

He said, "The trust that brought us here will always be our motivation to build more ambitions and seek new successes that will be added to the achievements of the UAE, witnessed every day. We meet on this occasion to achieve the vision of Sheikh Mohammed. I pray to Allah to bless me and you with success to be worthy for this trust and for this duty and national obligations."
