Beard Equipment Rents Pink Excavator to Support Local Cancer Research in AlabamaPenton Business Media
Mobile, Ala.-based Beard Equipment Co. recently launched itsDigging for a Cure Project, an effort to raise between $60,000 and$70,000 for USA Childrens & Womens Hospital andthe USA Mitchell Cancer Institute, with the rental revenues earnedfrom its pink John Deere 200C excavator. Beginning Oct. 1 andcontinuing for 12 months, Beard Equipment will rent the Deereexcavator with all rental revenue going to USA Childrens& Womens Hospital and the USA Mitchell CancerInstitute.
While launching our wellness program we recognized thatemployees, customers, relatives and friends have in some way beentouched by cancer, said Kristen Beard DeLaney of BeardEquipment. We at Beard Equipment wanted to make acontribution to the cancer research community.While exploring ways to contribute we realized that we havetwo outstanding research facilities here in Mobile, saidBrooke Beard Dodson of Beard Equipment. USAs MitchellCancer Institute and USA Childrens & WomensHospital seemed to be ideal organizations to help make adifference.
The Deere 200C is a 20-metric-ton excavator designed for generalsite excavation, installation of pipe and utilities, and landclearing. The pink paint was donated by Tommy English of AutomotivePaint Supply and PPG. Rental rates for the excavator are $800daily, $2,000 weekly and $6,000 monthly.
We have hopes of raising between $60,000 and $70,000 forChildrens & Womens and the Mitchell CancerInstitute, DeLaney said. The tractor will be available torent in Mobile and through Beard Equipments Floridalocations in Pensacola, Panama City, Freeport, Jacksonville, LakeCity and Palatka.
