ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 10 -- Pioneer Hi Bred International, Johnston, Iowa, has been assigned a patent (8,237,034) developed by Gustavo Marcelo Garcia, Stratford, Canada, Lori Lisa Carrigan, Spicer, Minn., and Steven Paul King, Stratford, Canada, for a "maize variety hybrid X90A804."
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A novel maize variety designated X90A804 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof, produced by crossing Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprises crossing hybrid maize variety X90A804 with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X90A804 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X90A804, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X90A804.
