Royal Dutch Shell and Qatar Petroleum have signed an agreement to study the development of a major petrochemical complex in the industrial city of Ras Laffan under a 20/ 80 equity sharing deal. That was circulated by the Qatari News Agency and reported in the media quoting a press release issued by both companies. The project would have an annual design capacity to produce 1.5 million tons of mono ethylene glycol among other olefin specialty derivatives. Worth indicating is that a memorandum of understanding on the project was signed by both companies in late 2011.
